All of us who are obsessed with eyelashes want our eyelash extensions to last as long as possible, right? We spend a lot of time and money on eyelash extensions, so you may ask yourself - how do I clean and care for my eyelash extensions?

Many people think that in order to ensure the longevity of their eyelash extensions, they should clean them as little as possible. The truth is that you do need to wet them regularly to clean them. Incomplete cleaning of your lash extensions and eyelids can actually cause problems, which means that your extensions won't end up lasting as long as they should.

This is because if they are not washed off properly, they can cause inflammation and bacterial infections in the eyes. This eventually leads to red, itchy eyes and they will still fall off. So, when you start a proper cleaning regimen, your eyes will feel better and your extensions will last longer.

Also, for people who have oily skin or use cosmetics and skin care products that contain oil, it is inevitable that some oil will end up on your lash extensions. If you don't wash your lashes thoroughly, the oil will stay there and cause your extensions to fall off.

Here’s what to do to clean and care for your eyelash extensions properly:

1. Use an oil and glycol-free makeup remover to remove all eye makeup. To remove eyeliner, use a cotton swab dipped in makeup remover. Never use cotton balls as they will latch onto your eyelash extensions.

2. To clean up your face makeup, use a gentle cleanser but avoid the eye area.

3. Wet your eyes with cool water. Take a very, very small amount of lash cleaner (Preferably oil-free) and lather it on the palm of your hand. Apply it to both eyes, close eyes, and massage gently. If your eyes still feel dirty, repeat this step. Do not rub back and forth as this can cause too much irritation to the lash extensions.

4. Rinse the lather off knowingly and gently dry your eyes. If extensions are a little damp and stuck together by the water, it's okay, when they are open, you can use a mascara brush to separate them.

Note: After your first eyelash extensions in the salon, please wait at least 24 hours before wetting them with water to ensure that they stay firmly in place on your eyes.

Can you use lash extensions for your eye makeup?

Yes, you can! You can still use mascara after your eyelash extensions as long as you clean your lashes thoroughly at the end of the day as described above to avoid buildup or inflammation. But you must avoid oil and alcohol-based cosmetics, as the ingredients in them can cause premature breakdown of the lash adhesive. Oil-free and alcohol-free mascara is the right choice for you!
