Tips for Clean, Store, and Reuse False Eyelashes

September 07, 2021 Eyelashes Views: 878

It is well-known that false eyelashes make a big impact on your overall gorgeous look. No matter what kind of lashes you prefer, thick, natural, or curly, you can always find one that suits you best.

Throw away false eyelashes after using once? It is unwise! Reusing lashes is a much more useful way to save money when doing your own makeup. By the way, it goes without saying, but never share your eyelashes with others. Always use fresh lashes for your friends or clients to avoid causing eye infections.

There's a long way for your personal eyelashes to go. Treating them well and cleaning them carefully can really extend their lives.

If you clean and store your false eyelashes properly, you can flaunt your falsies a few more times. Intrigued? Let us give you some tips!

How to Clean Your False Lashes and Prolong Their Lives

It’s necessary that you wash your hands before you pick up your false eyelashes. After all, you don't want any dirt, oil, or impurities to get into your lashes. If you don't clean them, you run the risk of being infected. In short, bacteria can build up on the lashes, which causes eye infections, while leftover glue or old makeup debris can also collect on the lashes and cause skin irritation and the breakage of the false lashes. So, yeah. You're gonna want to clean them.

Step 1 Remove false eyelashes correctly

Hold the eyelashes firmly with two fingers, then gently remove the adhesive from the band with the other hand. Be sure to peel away from the outer corners where lashes are most easily to fall off.

Use your finger pads to peel away your eyelashes. Do not use tweezers or nails as they will rip the lashes or stretch out the band.

STEP2 Know the kind of lashes you have

The first thing is to determine what type of lashes you use. Synthetic and natural eyelashes need to be cleaned and disinfected in different ways. Most false lashes nowadays are synthetic and vegan. Appearanz adheres to the concept of Vegan & Cruelty-Free, providing faux mink lashes and silk lashes.

STEP3 Remove eyelash glue or adhesive

Next, you need to make sure you have removed all the glue from the base of your eyelashes. The easiest way to remove glue is to use salon-quality tweezers. Gently remove the adhesive and don't pull on your falsies. If there's stubborn glue that won't come off, you can use an oily eye makeup remover to break it down.

STEP4 Clean your false lashes

Once the lash glue is removed, it's time to thoroughly clean your lashes. Make sure to remove all makeup on your false lashes (especially when you apply mascara) and other impurities in this step.

Put the false eyelashes on a paper towel, and then gently wipe bases, "hairs" of false eyelashes, residual mascara, dirt, and excess oil with a cotton swab dipped in eye makeup remover in order to achieve the effect of thorough cleaning.

Please note: If you have mink eyelashes, please skip this step. Eye makeup remover would ruin the appearance of your eyelashes. Instead, you can clean them with a wet cotton swab dipped in water. Never directly dip them in water, otherwise, your eyelashes will be damaged.

Remember to use oil-free or water-based makeup remover for your synthetic eyelashes. Because oily makeup remover leaves a residue on your eyelashes, which will damage them and interfere with your makeup when you reapply falsies on your eyes.

Step 5 Disinfect with alcohol

Now that your lashes are perfect and clean, it's time to disinfect them! Since false lashes are near your eyes, they can be a breeding ground for bacteria, so you need to take appropriate steps to keep your lashes in good shape.

Pay attention to the eyelash strips. It is necessary to make sure they are really clean to avoid any bacteria building up because these strips come into direct contact with your eyelids. You can even take an extra step of disinfecting them by spraying them with at least 70 percent rubbing alcohol.

Step 6 Air-dry and store

Gently stroke your lashes one last time, then place them on a woolless towel. Give them enough time to air dry. When they're completely dry, store them in a matching box. If possible, place them in their original semicircle position. This will help maintain their shape and keep them clean. Then your false eyelashes are ready to be applied the next time you go out.

How Many Times Can False Lashes be Reused?

Now that you know how to clean false eyelashes, you may be interested in reusing them. That's what all this effort is for! The number of times you can be able to glue and un-glue your eyelashes depends on the type of eyelashes you use. False eyelashes made from synthetic materials can be reused up to five times. And if you use mink lashes, you can reuse them up to 20 times.

As long as you follow our tips above to clean and store false eyelashes, you will grab all the gorgeous moments that false eyelashes bring!

How to Reapply False Eyelashes

Instead of buying a new pair of eyelashes, you can reuse the clean eyelashes. Most importantly, the application process is definitely quick and easy because they have been used before. There is no need for you to trim or bend the eyelashes to get a perfect fit. They have become the shapes you want most. All you need to do is to remove the falsies from the box and apply glue to them. After the glue is applied, use your fingertips or tweezers to apply them to the eyelids.
